Jewellery Care Instructions

Our gold-plated jewellery is made by electroplating 18Kor 14K gold onto durable stainless steel. Metals like gold are delicate and despite our factory's best efforts they can still fade or tarnish due to a process called oxidization.

Gold jewellery can experience discolouration over time due to multiple factors including exposure to moisture, chemicals, chemical residue, frequency of cleaning, storage methods, and even skin pH levels.

We highly recommend you read through our entire jewellery care section when you purchase one of our items as this will assist you in ensuring your beautiful jewellery lasts longer.

  • Ensure your hands are clean and dry when handling all gold-plated jewellery.
  • To ensure your item's colour remains in perfect condition we recommend removing it before sleep, bathing and or swimming.
  • Store your jewellery individually in a secure pouch, box or airtight container in a dry and humid free environment, out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
  • Polish regularly with a microfiber cloth or a jewellery polishing cloth. This could help remove chemical residue and tarnish thus brightening your pieces.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals, perfume, lotions, hand sanitizer, chlorine and salt water.
    • Cosmetics and Cleaning Products: What we put on our skin affects our jewellery if it is in contact with these substances.  Some products are more acidic than others and can cause jewellery to tarnish.  Cleaning products, like chlorine and ammonia, accelerate oxidation and should be avoided.
  • We also strongly discourage wearing your jewellery during gym or high-intensity activities that may result in sweating as well as in saunas and steam rooms.
    • Sweat: Sweat often contains sulphur.  The more you sweat, the more likely your jewellery is to tarnish.  Take off your jewellery when you exercise to help minimize oxidation.
  • Take extra care of jewellery that contains stones, they may chip or become dislodged if dropped, banged, or improperly stored
  • Avoid impact with hard surfaces including other items of jewellery. This will protect against scratching, chipping and chain breakage.

As disclosed in our returns policy, b.FOUND is not responsible for any damage due to wear and tear, mishandling or neglect.
